Company-Specific Catalysts Drive Sharp Stock Declines

  • ServiceTitan (NASDAQ: TTAN) fell after issuing a third-quarter revenue forecast below analysts’ expectations—not because of a law-firm investigation.
  • BridgeBio Oncology Therapeutics (NASDAQ: BBOT) and The Bancorp (NASDAQ: TBBK) declined following clinical-program developments and changes involving a major banking partner.
  • Braze (NASDAQ: BRZE) dropped despite strong earnings, as investors focused on softer contract-growth metrics and uncertainty surrounding AI monetization.

Several companies recorded substantial losses during a generally weaker market session. The declines reflected a combination of earnings guidance, clinical developments, and changes in important business relationships.

ServiceTitan, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTAN) fell approximately 30.0% to $57.12 despite reporting better-than-expected second-quarter results. The primary catalyst was its third-quarter revenue forecast of $285 million–$287 million, below the approximately $288 million analysts expected. A subsequent law-firm investigation announcement should not be presented as the cause of the sell-off.

BridgeBio Oncology Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: BBOT) declined approximately 23.8% to $6.76 after investors assessed new clinical data for BBO-8520 and the company’s decision to prioritize selected combination-treatment programs. The company reported encouraging response rates, but the market reacted negatively to the overall update and revised development priorities.

The Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: TBBK) dropped approximately 22.3% to $50.03 after Chime Financial (NASDAQ: CHYM) agreed to acquire Stride Bank for $590 million. Chime plans to consolidate its banking activities under Stride after the transaction closes, potentially reducing its reliance on The Bancorp as a banking-services partner.

Braze, Inc. (NASDAQ: BRZE) fell approximately 21.7% to $23.73 despite beating second-quarter earnings and revenue estimates and raising its full-year revenue guidance. Investors instead focused on lighter growth in remaining performance obligations, a measure of contracted future revenue, and the absence of a clear near-term revenue contribution from its AI products.

GraniteShares 2x Long VRT Daily ETF (NASDAQ: VRTL) declined approximately 19.3% to $27.64 as Vertiv Holdings Co. (NYSE: VRT) fell approximately 9.6%. Because the fund targets twice the daily percentage performance of Vertiv shares, it amplified the underlying stock’s decline.

Although company-specific developments produced the largest moves, the broader market was also negative: the S&P 500 declined 0.5%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.8%, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 0.6%.
