Top Stock Losers: Company-Specific Setbacks Amplify a Weaker Market

  • Navan (NASDAQ: NAVN) declined despite an earnings beat as investors focused on rising expenses and expectations for a larger guidance increase.
  • Biohaven (NYSE: BHVN) fell after the FDA paused new enrollment in trials of its experimental epilepsy drug.
  • Weak guidance and the decision to retain CooperSurgical weighed on The Cooper Companies (NASDAQ: COO).

Navan, Inc. (NASDAQ: NAVN) fell approximately 21.7% to $20.26 despite beating quarterly revenue and earnings expectations. Revenue increased 35% to $232.8 million, but operating expenses rose 46% and the operating loss widened to $25.6 million. Investors also appeared to expect a larger increase in the company’s full-year outlook.

Vince Holding Corp. (NYSE: VNCE) dropped approximately 21.6% to $5.03 amid reports of a dispute involving an unpaid C$5 million claim connected with its acquisition of the OVO brand. The relationship between the disclosure and the stock decline should be described as a market reaction rather than proven causation.

BridgeBio Oncology Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: BBOT) declined approximately 18.4% to $5.52, extending its losses following new clinical data for BBO-8520 and a decision to prioritize selected combination-treatment programs. Although the company reported encouraging response rates, investors reacted negatively to the overall update and revised development priorities.

Biohaven Ltd. (NYSE: BHVN) fell approximately 14.9% to $12.79 after the FDA placed a partial clinical hold on trials of the experimental epilepsy drug opakalim. The hold pauses new enrollment while Biohaven provides additional information about a metabolite associated with toxicity findings in rodents. Patients already enrolled may continue treatment.

The Cooper Companies, Inc. (NASDAQ: COO) dropped approximately 14.7% to $54.17, reaching an intraday low near $51.03. Quarterly adjusted EPS of $1.15 exceeded expectations, but revenue of $1.07 billion missed estimates. The company also issued weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter guidance and completed its strategic review without pursuing a sale of CooperSurgical.

Company-specific setbacks amplified an already negative trading session. The S&P 500 declined approximately 0.6%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6%, and the Nasdaq Composite lost about 0.7%.
