Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) Rises After Deutsche Bank Upgrade Amid Mixed Analyst Views

  • Leading streaming company Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) gained after Deutsche Bank upgraded the stock from Hold to Buy.
  • Analyst views remain mixed, as Wells Fargo downgraded Netflix to Underweight and HSBC downgraded it to Hold.
  • Despite recent weakness, Netflix still holds a strong position in streaming, with many analysts maintaining positive ratings.

As a global leader in the streaming entertainment industry, Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) offers on-demand TV shows, movies, documentaries, and original content to subscribers worldwide. The company operates in a highly competitive market, facing rivals such as Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and HBO Max.

On September 29, 2026, Deutsche Bank upgraded Netflix from Hold to Buy, although it lowered its price target from $100 to $95. The firm argued that the stock’s recent decline created a buying opportunity, pointing to stronger international trends and broader market potential. Netflix shares rose 1.5% to $70.27 after the upgrade, according to Barron’s.

However, analyst sentiment was not uniformly positive. Wells Fargo downgraded Netflix to Underweight with a lower price target of $57, while HSBC also downgraded the stock to Hold. These cautious views reflect concerns about weaker U.S. viewer engagement, rising competition from YouTube, and the company’s decision to release engagement reports annually instead of twice a year.

Netflix stock has faced pressure in 2026, falling about 26% year to date and roughly 36% from its April high of $107.79. Even so, the company remains broadly favored by Wall Street, with Barron’s reporting 28 Buy ratings and 17 Hold ratings among 45 firms tracked by FactSet.

The stock’s market value remains substantial. Google Finance recently showed Netflix trading near $70, with a market capitalization around $295 billion. This reflects the company’s continued scale and dominant role in the global streaming market, even as investors debate its valuation, engagement trends, and long-term growth outlook.
