BlackRock is a leading investment manager, widely recognized for its diverse range of funds and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Wells Fargo recently initiated coverage on the stock with an “Overweight” rating, suggesting the stock offered a “nice entry point” for investors. At the time of the rating’s publication, BlackRock traded at $1,064.36. An “Overweight” rating signifies an analyst’s expectation that the stock will outperform comparable stocks in the market.

This positive analyst sentiment comes ahead of BlackRock’s highly anticipated third-quarter earnings report, which is scheduled for release before the market opens on Wednesday, Oct. 14, as highlighted by Benzinga. Analysts are forecasting earnings per share of $14.25, a notable increase from $11.55 reported a year earlier. Earnings per share is a key metric indicating a company’s profitability per outstanding share of stock.

Furthermore, analysts also project BlackRock’s revenue to reach $7.56 billion, up from $6.51 billion in the prior year. Revenue represents the total income BlackRock generates from its operations before accounting for expenses. These robust revenue forecasts provide crucial figures for investors to compare against the upcoming report, helping them assess the validity and implications of Wells Fargo’s rating.

Adding to the analyst coverage, Morgan Stanley analyst Mike Cyprys also maintains an “Overweight” rating on BlackRock. However, Cyprys adjusted his price target for the investment manager, lowering it from $1,488.00 to $1,479.00 on Sept. 25. A price target serves as an analyst’s estimate of a stock’s potential future trading price. BlackRock closed Wednesday at $1,058.29, experiencing a slight decline of 0.9%.
