Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL): Bullish Analyst Outlook Amid Regulatory Concerns
- U.S. Representative Michael Rulli disclosed selling between $50,001 and $100,000 of Alphabet shares.
- Meta’s youth-safety settlement may increase regulatory pressure on YouTube.
- Citizens maintained an “Outperform” rating and a $515 price target, while Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square completed its exit from Alphabet.
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) operates Google Search, YouTube, Android, Google Cloud, and the Gemini artificial intelligence platform. It generates most of its revenue from digital advertising while expanding its cloud computing business.
On August 24, 2026, U.S. Representative Michael Rulli sold between $50,001 and $100,000 of Alphabet Class A shares. The transaction was disclosed under the STOCK Act. Because Rulli is a member of Congress rather than an Alphabet employee or director, this was a congressional stock sale, not an insider sale.
Alphabet shares declined approximately 1.65% to $341.25 on August 26. Some concern followed Meta Platforms’ youth-safety settlement, which encourages YouTube and TikTok to adopt similar protections and reach separate agreements with U.S. states. However, the settlement does not currently impose a financial obligation on Alphabet.
Citizens analyst Andrew Boone maintained an “Outperform” rating and a $515 price target, implying approximately 48.43% upside from Alphabet’s August 26 premarket price. Meanwhile, Bill Ackman’s Pershing Square sold its remaining Alphabet shares after disposing of most of its position earlier in 2026, partly to fund an investment in Microsoft.
At approximately $341.25 per share, Alphabet had a market capitalization of about $4.17 trillion, making it the world’s third-largest publicly traded company at that time.
