Shopify (NASDAQ:SHOP) is a global commerce company that provides tools for businesses of all sizes to create and manage online stores. On August 5, 2026, the analyst firm Jefferies maintained its “Buy” rating for the company. As reported by TheFly, Jefferies also raised its price target on Shopify to $175 from $160, suggesting strong future potential.

This analyst optimism is supported by Shopify’s impressive second-quarter financial results. The company reported a 34% year-over-year increase in revenue, reaching $3.6 billion. Its earnings per share (EPS), which measures a company’s profit per outstanding share of stock, stood at $0.42, beating analyst estimates of $0.40 and causing the stock to rise significantly.

A key indicator of the platform’s health, Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV), grew by 32% to $115.57 billion. GMV represents the total value of all sales processed by merchants using Shopify. This shows that businesses on the platform are experiencing a substantial increase in their own sales, driving more revenue for Shopify.

The company’s revenue growth comes from two main areas. Merchant Solutions revenue, which includes payment processing fees, climbed 37% to $2.78 billion. Subscription Solutions revenue, from fees for using the platform, rose 22% to $802 million. This strong performance led to a 68% increase in operating income, which reached $488 million.

Looking forward, management projects third-quarter revenue growth in the low-thirty percent range, as highlighted by Invezz. This positive outlook is partly due to a strategic shift away from costly logistics operations. This move helps transform Shopify into a more focused company with higher profit margins.
